Ahmed Samir

Ahmed Samir was an amateur Heavyweight standout in Egypt who arrived in the US in 2007 as part of the Egyptian World Championship team. Ahmed now calls New York his home and has made a successful transition from outstanding amateur to an undefeated exciting professional prospect.

As a young boy growing up in Egypt, Ahmed’s first introduction to boxing was while watching the Olympic Games. He was mesmerised. To him, the boxers were heroes and he wanted to be one. He laced on his first pair of gloves at 10 years of age and has pursued his sport with passion ever since.

Ahmed has had an outstanding amateur career fighting at 91+ kg. Impressively he’s fought over 200 bouts, 95 of which have been during international tournaments. Most notably he’s achieved Gold at the 2007 All-African Games in Algeria, Gold at the Zone 5 African Championships 2007 in Egypt, Gold at the 2007 Arab Championships in Tunisia, Silver at the 2007 Arab Military Championships in Algeria and Gold at the 2006 Jordan International Championships.

Then in October 2007, Ahmed travelled to the US as part of the Egyptian team to compete in the World Games in Chicago. He saw an opportunity to seek a better career and pursue his dream of becoming World Champion in the US and abruptly abandoned his team and moved to New York.

Ahmed Samir turned pro shortly after and has fought and won all his professional fights.

For his debut fight at the Blue Horizon, Philadelphia on February 8th 2008, Ahmed defeated Kamarah Pasley in a unanimous point’s decision. He caught Pasley with some clean shots wobbling him in the second round causing him to fall back onto the ropes.

Ahmed scored his second victory over Pedro Martinez on 9th may 2008 in New Alhambra, Philadelphia. Samir dropped Martinez twice in the opening round. The first knockdown came from a blistering right on the chin. Martinez rose to his feet, but just moments later, an overhand right put him back on the canvas for the second time. Martinez regained his senses in round two and the fight went the distance. All three judges scored the bout in favour of Samir.

Optimum Sports Agency is pleased to welcome Ahmed to the team and believe that we have a future champion in Ahmed.
